Progress So Far
The new neighbourhood is taking shape. The first two phases of Arkall Green are almost complete, with around 315 new homes delivered by Morris Homes and Davidsons Homes, alongside affordable housing partners Bromford and Lloyds Living, with most homes now sold and occupied. The finishing touches to the areas of landscaping, planting, attenuation features, public spaces and roads are being made. The public open spaces and shared landscaped areas in these first phases are about to be transferred to a professional managing agent to secure their long-term proper management and maintenance. The managing agent will be the main point of contact for residents on matters relating to these communal spaces.
Alongside the homes, a substantial amount of the infrastructure and community investment promised as part of the development has already been delivered. This includes:
-
Extensive green space, landscaped areas and sustainable drainage features that provide attractive open spaces while helping to manage surface water.
-
The key site infrastructure, including the main, primary street, drainage attenuation features and new walking and cycling routes, including a new pedestrian bridge over the railway line, making it easier and safer for residents to walk and cycle between Arkall Green and Tamworth.
-
The primary school site has been prepared ready for Staffordshire County Council to take ownership and deliver the school immediately when they are ready.
-
The new care home is now open and provides high-quality specialist accommodation and care as well as employment opportunities and community meeting spaces that can be hired by local groups.
-
A new bus service now serves the site and significant financial contributions have been made towards local services and facilities that will benefit both new and existing communities.
